By the sweat of your brow shall you eat bread, Until you return to the ground from which you were taken; For you are dust and to dust you shall return.
Genesis 3:19
Ash Wednesday opens up the season of Lent and this year it will be on March 6, 2019. It is a reminder that our life is transient and, in contrast our joy in heaven is eternal. Lent is a season of penance, fasting, reflection, prayer and almsgiving, which prepares us for Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. There are 46 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. May we observe this short season with deep reflection, reverence, appreciation and hope.
